Crawlers
Upstream Commerce uses its own custom built proprietary Crawlers to directly scan your and your competitors' Websites -- typically every 24 hours, and more frequently when necessary -- in order to provide the most up-to-date and accurate competitive information. All in all, that adds up to millions and millions of products from a multitude of retail Websites worldwide being scanned by Upstream Commerce's Crawlers on a daily basis comprising billions of quality intelligence data points.
Data Extractor
Once crawling is completed, Upstream Commerce's Data Extractor learns the structure of your and your competitors' Websites and then reliably extracts the relevant data. Pricing data is extracted directly from the shopping cart for maximum accuracy. The technology behind our Data Extractor enables us to handle ANY retail Website -- including those that have partial, noisy and unstructured data for which it would otherwise be impossible to reliably collect data in an automated fashion.
Matching Engine
Using the data collected by the Data Extractor, Upstream Commerce's powerful Matching Engine accurately matches your products to your competitors' products. Patented, cutting-edge artificial intelligence, semantic analysis, data mining, and image recognition technologies ensure that the accuracy of the matching exceeds 99%, EVEN WHEN retail Web sites do not use unique identifiers such as manufacturer numbers or universal part codes on their product pages.
Analytics Engine
From the data collected and matched, the Analytics Engine produces pricing and assortment insights presented in user-friendly analytics-type reports.
